Ep3 Deserts & Grasslands: Baboons -Click Here to watch from 19:46 in

I filmed the baboons on their search for water in the arid Namibian Desert. I was out on location with Producer Kiri Cashell and this has to be one of my all time favourite shoots.

Working in the Namibian desert was the most barren and yet one of the most beautiful environments I’ve ever worked in. I was particularly happy to see that my eye shots of the baboons opened up the trailer for the series which can be seen below.

Over the years I've filmed many primate species and within each species there is a very obvious hierarchy amongst its individuals.

Obvious to the primates but not to us. It's even harder to capture this hierarchy on camera. However not with these baboons.

Due to the nature of a precious water spring the baboons would line up in a single file line in seemingly perfect hierarchical order. A very unique behaviour to capture!
